Upon arrival in Maun you will be met by Delta Air who will assist you to the light aircraft and onwards air transfer to Oddballs’ and the Mokoro Trail.

You have time to settle into camp and start to explore some of the area surrounding camp.  Oddballs’ offers no motorized activities. Your own professional guide a man of the swamp, born and bred in the area will be your host.  Each guide has his own mokoro (the genuine wooden article, not the plastic replica), in which he’ll take you gliding through the Okavango to nearby islands, where he’ll walk you through magnificent scenery to view game, birds, insects, medicinal plants, tracks, signs, droppings, and other fascinating natural phenomena.

You will spend two nights in camp, the first and last nights of your stay, with the middle two nights being spent out on the Mokoro Trail.

Oddballs' is situated on the edge of Chief's Island, deep in the heart of the Okavango, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve.  The camp is accessible by light aircraft only. On arrival, you are met at the airstrip by your personal guide and welcomed to the island. He remains your guide for the duration of your stay.

Accommodation is in 3m x 3m dome tents, fully equipped, and set on elevated wooden decks shaded by reed shelters. Each tent has its own, semi-detached bathroom with hot and cold running water and an al fresco bucket shower – in true safari style.

The bar and lounge areas at Oddballs’ provide a great meeting place and somewhere to swap stories around the fire. There is a great raised viewing deck that overlooks the sweep of the Delta – the perfect vantage from which to watch the sun set over the palms and view whatever wildlife may be visiting.

Hearty and wholesome meals are served in the dining room, which looks across the Boro Channel to Chief’s Island and the Moremi Game Reserve.

The bar operates an honour system, with guests expected to note their consumption on a tab and settle up at the end of their stay.

With your mokoro packed, you will head out for your two night adventure deep into Chief’s Island where you will really explore this area and be far away from all civilization.  Participation is part of the game and you will get a chance to track and develop a deep understanding of this unique part of the Delta.

All of the guides come from the nearby village of Sedibana, last redoubt of the legendary baYei people who colonized these swamps in their dug-out canoes in the mid- to late-1700s. Your guide will be pleased to take you there, where you might meet the chief or some of his elders, and perhaps your guide’s family. The women of the village are adept at basket weaving and you may find a shopping experience difficult to avoid – but whatever transpires, the experience of people living, in this day and age, so simply and in such idyllic surroundings is a revelation to many visitors.

Today you will head back to Oddballs arriving in time to settle into camp and perhaps enjoy some of the activities on offer before a well-deserved rest.

After breakfast at Oddballs’, you will depart by light aircraft to Camp Savuti.

The Savuti Marsh, fed by the Savuti Channel, has developed a reputation over the years as one of the world’s premier predator viewing areas, boasting one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the African continent. A number of award-winning documentary films shot in Savuti have cemented its reputation.

The Channel, dry since 1982, started flowing again in 2010 and is now once again flooding the Marsh, an area of sweet grasses that attracts herbivores of every description and, this being Africa, their attendant predators.

The activities on offer are morning and afternoon game drives through the park and along the fringes of the Channel and Marsh. The game-viewing vehicles are open to facilitate game-watching and photography, and your guide will delight in showing you the beauty and diversity of Savuti’s natural wonders. This area offers superb game and birding-viewing in the open areas of Savuti within Chobe National Park.

Camp Savuti is a small, intimate camp of 5 Meru tents accommodating a maximum of 10 guests in comfort and style. The tents have been positioned to ensure privacy and a modest level of exclusivity throughout the camp. Each tent sits on a platform, with views over the Savuti Channel. The tents are large and spacious with en-suite facilities and views from your deck.

In the guest areas, there is a comfortable and intimate lounge, bar and dining area, all overlooking the Savuti Channel.

A full day to further explore Savuti and the Chobe National Park.
