South Africa is one of the best destinations in Africa for the safari traveller as it offers a wide range of diverse activities to suit every single personality and budget.

South Africa is a great country to visit for those keen to travel responsibly and contribute to conservation and development.  The country has a large number of National Parks and private reserves,  world heritage sites, pristine coastline, an amazing variety of flora and fauna, breathtaking scenery and both tranquillity and hustle and bustle in equal measures.

Many of the accommodation options that ecoTravel Africa offers are located in the National Parks that abound across the country.  These parks are run by a number of organisations including South African National Parks, the leading conservation authority on national parks across the country, whose mission is to ‘develop and manage a system of national parks that represent the biodiversity, landscapes and associated heritage assets of South Africa for the sustainable use and benefit of all’.  Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife runs the National Parks within the Kwazulu Natal region, it has been recognised internationally for it’s work on the conservation of the white rhino and sea turtles and for it’s community outreach programmes.  The Kwazulu Natal region also incorporates a number of RAMSAR (wetlands recognised of international importance) sites, including the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

In line with the ecoTravel Africa ethos, other accommodation choices have been selected based on their environmental and conservation criteria and it’s often possible for you to see the conservation and/or development projects on the sites themselves.   Accommodation ranges from camping safaris to luxury lodge vacations, we are able to cater to every individual requirement.

More information about all the projects that you will be contributing towards throughout the course of your holiday will be explained in more detail once your itinerary has been finalised.  ecoTravel Africa believes that environmental education is important for all travellers, it is essential that you are aware of the issues facing the country which you are visiting and that you appreciate how you can help, both whilst you are away and upon your return home.

South Africa covers a vast area and offers a plethora of activities for the traveller, our tailor made itineraries ensure that you get the most out of your holiday and that it is designed just for you.  You can opt for either a self drive option, an escorted tour or small group travel.  From the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg, to enjoying a cold drink watching the hippos enjoying the Sabie river, to the battlefields of KwaZulu Natal, to hiking the Drakensberg mountains, a trip up table mountain and a visit to the winelands can all be experienced in this amazing country.
